Flat or PG? If flat, how much should I spend on the rent? Help a lost girl out for good karma 😪

Hi,

I’ll be moving to Bangalore (HSR) for a new job and could really use some advice on setting a realistic rent budget.

My monthly in-hand salary is around 62k.

What should be my budget for rent? (Why are flats in HSR so expensive 😖) Or should I consider a PG instead?

Additionally, how much should I set aside for savings?

Any advice or insights would be super helpful. Thanks in advance!

Also, appreciate any leads on good PGs, flats and broker numbers 🙏🏻

Save atleast 35K. DON'T PARTY DON'T DRINK

BE HAPPY AT HOME. UNFOLLOW GIRLS WHI ARE DRINKING EVERY WEEKEND.

This will help you save money in bangalore.

Ideally your rent should be in b/w 20-25% range of your salary so in your case should be 12-16 k. If you go for a flat, there will be other expenses as well (maid, groceries etc) that will easily cross this mark.

Try to get a good PG (not zolo or chain type PGs - never heard anything good about them).

You should save 30% minimum. Assuming you are fresher/bachelor with no major financial responsibilities you can try to save 50% if you want to go big on savings.
Once you have a rainy day emergency fund good enough to cover your 6 months expenses, start investing as per your risk appetite.

HSR is one of the posh areas in Bangalore so rent will definitely be on the higher side.

You can stay in HSR or look for pgs in green glen layout. Its a hotspot for pgs, food stalls etc
