Gmat prep

Hello community, I'm planning for the GMAT and wanted to know how you guys prepared for the same. Any advice on planning? What should be the score to aim if I want to get into the top 10 B schools in the US?

Not very confident about my english/quant/exam writing skills as it's been 6 years since I prepared for IIT JEE (last competitive exam). Would love to hear if you have similar experiences

I didn't go to the US, did mba via GMAT in India , here are some pointers as I was looking into the US as well

  1. For US- 750, should be your Target, Indian, male, engineer, typical profile. Below 730 it is very difficult.

  2. Don't worry about exams as of today, just go ahead and take the official mock test and see what you score, you will have the benchmark and then create strategy for prep.

  3. Create an account in Gmatclub, this will be your go to website for everything. Get hooked to it.

  4. Coaching also helps, if you are in Bangalore Crack Verbal is decent, coaching mostly helps in structure and routine. If offline is not your things then mangosh and manthan is also good.

  5. Daily solve practice questions, again the GMAT club will be handy, try spending a couple of hours a day and more hours on weekends.

  6. After you have gone through the concept and completed the syllabus, take a mock every week without fail.

  7. Once you have an acceptable score in 2 consecutive mocks, take the exam.

  8. Don't worry about results, 3-4 attempts are completely alright but don't think about it now.

  9. Separate out 1L for the prep and exam, and other 2L for application and some buffers.

Happiness is always subjective, Had to stay back in India, with that respect yes happy.

The way I look at mba is it gives you time to step back and experiment. Plus a good peer group or more people who are on the same path. You get more company.

On that note - do you need a brand name on your profile to get a M10 admit or not. Thoughts on this appreciated as I'm looking for my next role

One word, yes
