Google Lowballing too much??

Hi All,

I recently had an interview for the TPM role at Google for L5 (15 YOE). I initially enquired if I should be interviewed for an L6 to which the HR said that they are doing L5 for 13-16 YOE and will not be able to go for L6. I politely accepted because it was “Google” and I didn’t even applied for the role. As of 3 weeks back had all interviews done and to my knowledge all went well and I was expecting at least strong hire or hire in all 4 on-site rounds. Recruiter didn’t called back despite my numerous follow ups in tense last 17 days. Today she picks up my call and tells me that one of my interviewer felt that I am not OK for L5 and should be considered for L4. Rest all interviewers have hire/strong hire for L5. She asked me my current package and said that she could match it for L4 else I should wait and see if any other hiring manager has open L5 position and the will schedule a redo interview and see how it goes. But even with that max they can offer is 75LPA (my current is 63 LPA). My question:

  1. Is 65 LPA for 15 YOE at Google too less? Should I wait for redo interview for L5. Chances are that it might not happen?
  2. Should out rightly reject the 65/75 LPA offer as best case scenario only offers about 15% increase on my CTC which I can get as regular hike in next 2 months (or at least 10%).
  3. How should I negotiate. Now that I have one negative feedback do I have the bargaining power?
  4. How easy/hard it is to get promoted in Google (I feel that I am an average to high performer) and will I be able to make up for a lost level in 1-2 years?

Is it just the base or CTC. Can you provide the split up?

Depends on you. You will see kids at L4 so that might hurt your ego. But purely from getting in perspective, it is good chance. Life will be easier at Google.
