Has anyone ever taken career counselling? Do they work?

Have few questions related to that -

  1. Does the psychometric tests really showcase your skills and interests?
  2. Do you recommend it for anyone who is unsure of what they can be doing in their lives with utmost satisfaction?
  3. Are the results at the end of the tests show only legacy jobs or they showcase a generic view of what can be your career and you can choose to deep dive? Like, do they specifically show you can be a software engineer or do they mention you are good at teaching or expressing yourself, hence from that you can deduce if blogging is something of interest that can be pursued or being youtuber etc
  4. If yes to above questions, any recommendations for good career counselling orgs?

Are you happy with whatever career path you choose? Do you ever feel you should've done architecture or something?

Not one of the first 1000 things that comes to mind. Am I happy? No. I want to write books. But outside of that - this is the closest I'm getting to shit I'm good at / shit I'm paid well for conundrum.

I have delved into this industry a little. It's mostly fluff not much useful. Most important thing about career is what field /direction to choose that you have to decide yourself. No one answer that question for you. It will take introspection and experiment.
Once you zero in on a field the info is available for free on internet or best is to talk to people in that field. And take a plunge.
Rest let me know if you have any specific question. Also if you want i can put you in tough with experienced career counsellors.

No specific questions as such. It just is a thought in my mind that they can help anyone to Guage their strong points as well as their interests. Is that all hokum then?

Career counselling after graduation

I have a cousin who’s just out of college completing BCom. She has no clue what next. I’d want her to talk to someone who can guide her (read: tell her all possible options) on what are her strengths/weaknesses and possible career option...
