Hate on Narayan Murthi Sir?
Why is everyone bashing Narayan Murthy left and right? I know he advocates working more, but if you see his initial statement from some months back, he said to accelerate India’s growth, we need to work more, which is 100% true.
I’ve seen people giving examples of Denmark or other European countries for less work (4 days a week or something)… but they have so little brain to understand that:
- European countries are already very much developed, and
- They have a very, very small population.
India has very different needs. We have a very large population, are much poorer, and much more unemployed too. Sorry, but we are also much unskilled… actually, many are unemployable even after getting a fancy degree.
What will happen if all of us just do enough work to sustain? We will not grow as a country; we’ll just avoid falling, that’s it. We all together have to make some (at least some) sacrifice for the country’s growth. Please don’t jump on me by bringing up politicians or other corrupt people… I know there are corrupt people, but there are more good people, I believe.
Approximately there are 60 crore working people in India right now. Just imagine, one fine Monday, everyone is very happy and they all decide to work just one extra hour. On the whole country level, this will produce an economic value of at least $60 billion in a single day, by contributing just one extra hour on a random Monday.

Why do you care about the country? Everyone who ends up being rich by working hard will most likely fuck off to a first world country. How does that benefit the country?
Or working 1 more hour in your job for a MNC based in the US or Europe will somehow enrich India?

Right, people are sheeps, they just follow what the media or memes convey.
NM meant we have to work hard in a productive way, not necessarily work in an office for 14 hours, he meant you can work 8 hours in the office and then you can work something else which can help the nation grow etc, it can be giving tutions to the poor kids, etc etc.
People are dumb you know, this news controversy is a good way to prove it
People might misinterpreting him because they have bad experience with Infosys or know that Infosys doesn’t pay better to them even if they work for so many hours.
