Hit a car and I am shocked at how insurance works.

Had a crazy day today. Banged into a Suzuki Swift. My car has full insurance, but apparently, in India, it doesn't cover the other car's damages. I'm wondering, how is that even possible? Everywhere else, full insurance usually covers both cars. Anyone else faced this?

So, I'm thinking, what's the right move now? The guy got a quote for 8k from an authorized dealer for fixing his door and bumper. My friend with a workshop says he can do it for 2k/3k. But the other guy is insistent on the dealer. Should I just pay the 8k or is there a smarter way to go about this?

Also, do I need to file an FIR for this? Or is there some jugaad way to handle it that I don't know about? Feeling totally lost here.

Insurance is a scam. Sad that it is institutionalised into the RTO systems.

It's a different thing that getting claims from 3rd party insurance is a process nightmare
