How companies use the phrase "Culture Fit" in hiring
- When they don't want to pay you.
- When they just… don't like you, but need a professional excuse
- When they wanted someone exactly like them and them is not you so you are not them and them da ra them da ra mast mast.. da ra them da ra .. them dara.. mast mast... got them?
- When they need a new, fancier way to say "you're too old/young for us"
- When they need a reason to reject you but can't admit the real reason is that their hiring manager forgot to key in the feedback
- When they know you're smarter than their current leadership
- when they know you actually are a great fit, but they suddenly realize they can get two interns for the same salary
- when they know you are asking the right questions and they dont want to deal with it
- when they Googled/ Linkedin-d you and found your old threads
- when they realize you're not afraid to set boundaries, and that terrifies them
- when they realize you're going to be hard to manage
Got anything else to add ??

Old thread but here it means for us in real terms. I manage 3-4 scrum teams.
The existing skills that you have don’t complement the existing pool of people.
The level you are looking for is potentially have higher performing people at your level or at lower level.
Your level of knowledge is superficial you answer correctly but lacked extra depth to sound convincing
You are too slow of a thinker
In some exceptional cases:
You were rude to 1-2 of the panel members may be unknowing but this is immediate disqualification as tech from my PoV is acquired skill while humility and collaboration is part of personality. It is OK to not answer everything but it is very important to be and come out as someone who is ready to listen, speak up and collaborate

I love the clarity. I wish others communicated the same way

Or ..
You came across as an 'I' person in an organisation that values 'we'
You think you know everything
You think it's ok to disparage the company you are interviewing with since you come from a large competitor ( real story)
You gave work anecdotes that were cringy
Your style of working is not how the company operates (I had a non tech guy explaining how they snooped competition 😳)
Culture fit is real! IMO, if it's a culture fit issue you won't enjoy working there! Good riddance hi hai, use any of the reasons OP has given ( I especially like the you are smarter than their current leadership - will use it to build confidence!)

Cringy? Cmon man thats just perspective. Sure I scaled from 5000 to 10000 users and not that big of a deal for you since you’ve done monumentally better. But does that discredit my contribution?
Class 1 student will be very happy to solve 5+6 and just because you’ve done calculus that don’t make the class 1 cringy.
But Im open to an example of what you found cringy!
