How do you learn Product Management?

Preferably interested in knowing the skills with which you up your game outside the work.

All the actual learning only builds up with execution. The more problem solving you are involved in, the more that muscle builds up. All these frameworks are pointless if you can’t apply them. It will remain as rote knowledge.

The other skill which you can put effort and compound is user research. Start improving on your ability to talk to users and bring actionable insights to the team.

Would suggest a resource. It’s a book called The mom test. It’s a very short read and is packed with actionable insights to start implementing in your user calls

For example, I learn with podcasts, read blogs, articles etc. but do not implement them in my daily work. Any good practices?

Depends upon what you perceive product management to be. If you think it is all that you hear in LinkedIn , then there are tons of resources you can find in LinkedIn or elsewhere.

If you want to build real skills, only way to be hands on. No amount of reading will come close to actual experience. In my experience, during interviews, smart interviews figure out if a person has execution knowledge or only theoretical understanding of product management.

Recommendation - read the SVPG books:

Inspired Empowered Loved

Also check out their blogs at svpg.com

These are great and my suggestion for anyone with customer facing roles is to consume the books and the blogs.
