I have 1 year of exp with 11.5 lpa, working as an AIML engineer in a service based company.

I want to switch to a product based company. I am very good at DSA ( python - since I am in the AIML field ). Now I feel like moving into a complete SDE in python. I am more interested in devops, python tool development, microservices etc...If I prepare DSA ( python ) and system design will it be enough to take a switch, and I am confused with selecting the companies. I have done 5 yrs mtech ( cse + ds ) from VIT Vellore. Any suggestions pls

I recommend staying at your current company for at least another year, or ideally, completing three years. I was in a similar situation two years ago, but HRs tend to be skeptical about switching jobs within a year, often citing lack of experience. I stayed for three years before switching, which led to a better offer. Plus, staying 2-3 years looks good on resume, as it’s an expected timeframe for job changes.

Still, I recommend you keep giving interviews as that will keep you in the loop of interviews and what type of questions to prepare for your specific field/tech stack.

Regarding your point “switching to a product based company” that’s a good direction but you have to make a choice whether you want to join a startup/ MNC.

I’ve been at a product based company since the start of my career and I have worked both at a startup and MNC.

Startup will give you tons of load but the learnings will be faster and you will be responsible for a lot of stuff within a short period (if you partake every opportunity whether it is for you or not) whereas a MNC the job load will be optimal/low but that may or may not limit the exposure you get.

I'm currently interviewing with product-based companies because I want to learn more. I’m not satisfied with the learning opportunities at my current company

1+ YoE and if you consider yourself very good at DSA, you should be able to crack a interview at very big product companies.

Try applying or getting referral at Google, Amazon, JPMC etc. Don’t leave your current job but make sure to inform the new company about your notice period.

I will leave my current job only after I have another better offer ✌️

Aim for CEO of a company... LOL You have 1 YOE and have 11Lpa Just stay focused and wait for atleast 2-3 years in initial stage... then u will understand all IT... Don't judge a book(IT) by its cover

Thanks for your advice, but I think I will focus on my goals rather than waiting for years just to "understand IT".

If I read your post correctly you want us to suggest potential targets for switch yes?
Since you said you are very good at dsa , I would say try applying to tower research and gavitron
