Your answer needs to be a mix of both. You have to talk about why this role in particular excites you and then be honest about your current situation. Make it 70-30. 70% why you like the new role (is there anything in particular in there you find interesting or want to work on etc) and 30 about the situation in your current role.
Ask them why you have an opening, did someone resigned and if yes why ?
Why us is a qn to understand if u have actually tried to know anything about the company and if u resonate with their work or way of work etc.
