If you had lived a traumatic or troubled life growing up, how are your familial relationships now?

How did your relationship improve? I ask from a personal point where mine are connected through a delicate string, which is thinning day by day. I naturally have love for my family, some part of it is due to my personality, but I fear I am resenting them more day by day.
