I don’t think overrated
It just reflects the decline in jobs available

Assume tier 2, 3 colleges would just be worse off

Of course. If you are getting into IIT, you take it. I am comparing getting into IIT vs getting into other equally good colleges in different streams / doing a CA / doing xxx
Obviously, the students who go into IITs are academically special. But should they waste going to IITs, if the brand is diluting vs a three year BCom from SRCC?

Not overrated, and will never will. These stats are rubbish.

What makes something overrated? Why are these stats rubbish?

These stats are rubbish because it makes no sense to compare placements with previous yr as market is at its low currently, if you have to compare better compare with placements of other colleges.

As far as IITs are concerned the amount of freedom in choosing curriculum in later years, plus foreign exchange programs, research opportunities you get at IITs is unmatched.

Plus at the time of placements the roles offered there are so wide ranging like data scientist, quant, management consulting, pm roles to name a few. Also many companies don't even consider college grads for such roles in other colleges apart from top 8 IITs.

Lastly their campus, it's one of the best undoubtedly. You don't call them overrated/underrated, they are IITs and will always be the best institutes of our country.

Which streams? You can't expect textile engineering grass to have the same placement level as circuital branches.

Also, the ones who are unplaced will most likely be from reservation quota. Just a hypothesis.

Fair, but that hasn't changed, right. Why's the ratio of unplaced worsening?

Now Google reservation in iits. About 72%. Companies just warmed up to the idea that not every iitian is smart. So they skip past the ones who are not.

I remember a recent protest at iit against companies asking for jee rank to be mentioned in resume. Clear and obvious why the ask and why the protest,

The unluckiest batch?

After seeing current placement stats of top IITs, even after Day6 not even 50% of the batch is unplaced can we say that 2024 is the unluckiest batch?
