Is it legal to keep a bladed weapon in your vehicle?

Given the increasingly high number of crimes in my city, I feel the need to carry some self-defense measures for my safety. I already have a dashcam and pepper spray.

I'm confused between a dagger and a steel bat. I'd feel safer keeping both but a dagger is more useful at keeping adversaries afraid and at bay.

Is it legal to keep a dagger in my vehicle?

It's illegal to carry anything more than 9 inches in length and 2 inches in width. Length includes handle.

It's also illegal to carry switchblades, spring or button activated knives.

Everything else is legal. Hope this helps.

Just from an experience of traversing the highways and unknown roads all times of the day -

Large unwieldy weapons are useless - you don't get that kind of space and time in a real skirmish. So hockey sticks, baseball bats look good on Kalesh videos, but in reality don't work.

Small sharp weapons need for you to be in close proximity, which lends yourself to more danger.

The ideal self defence weapon is one thats swift to strike and causes stun damage enough for you to deter / move off the zone of engagement i.e. disengage and run. I'd recommend an antenna truncheon. Nothing better and you won't cause damage that lands you up behind bars.

@TallTales69 Thanks a ton, friend! This is very very helpful.

I'll try to get a 9 inch dagger and try to get my hands on an antenna truncheon. Do you have any recommendations?

There is a length of weapon above which or equal to that you cannot keep it in your house also. But below that yeah you can.
But I hope you never have to use it, God save the innocents from the way the law has been practised here in our country.

I wish firearm licenses were easier to obtain for self defense. But our corrupt system makes it easier for the powerful and the criminals to obtain firearms and threaten us.

There are weird people out there. It's safe for some and unsafe for others

Keep pepper spray instaed - will keep you safe without landing you into ego issues or police custody.

Pepper spray is helpful if your assailants are 2-3 in numbers. Beyond that, you might need some threat of a lethal force or permanent bodily harm to deter them and escape.

Would-be* assailants, hopefully

I think you’d be better off with a golf club

Wouldn't that be too slow to strike in close quarters? Do you have any experience or anecdote about using golf clubs for self defense?

It's sad that it has come to this. Hope the city manages to reduce these incidents and innocents are not forced to take these measures. 🤞

Brother / Sister what city do you live in? Doesn't the police take fine even if we keep a 4feet wooden stick in the boot??
