Is microsoft doing diversity hire for interns too?

Recently scrolling thru LinkedIn I found many girls from my college are getting into Microsoft as a summer intern even if they don't have any leetcode , codeforces , code chef or GitHub profiles ... I am not sure how they are getting in.

Meanwhile boys are not even getting the test link or interview for that.

Truth be told, YES. Almost all PBCs are doing diversity hiring these days, and at all levels. You gotta work harder and trust your luck if you are a boy

I am a bit successful... Got a preplacement offer from a banking company (not jpmc or citi) but wanted to go for a product based company... But this diversity hiring fucked me up

I'd recommend trying at startups. They're less likely to do this since profitability/survival/growth is more of a concern

As a girl, I guess this is only the case for Tier 1 colleges. I belong to tier 3 and the situation is not at all the same for girls who aren’t from IITs or NITs. Ps: my LC and GFG profiles along with projects are strong, I’ve gotten it reviewed by top engineers. 🙂

Pay in software engineering doesn't vary according to gender, it varies according to your experience, prev salary, etc . The chances of conversion are quite good because job is often easier than getting/clearing an interview
