Is the content writing industry doomed?

My first post at GV, so bear with me please :)

I'm a copywriter at a digital marketing company based out of Mumbai, India. And I've been thinking about something my brother-in-law said to me on his visit here during Diwali, and would like some robust and well-rounded input on this.

He's a data scientist and has told me that jobs like mine would be obsolete in the coming years due to AI. Heck, he even said that he can churn out an AI model that does exactly what I do right now. I always knew it was going to happen, but he put a timeline of a mere few years for the inevitable to strike. I'm now at a loss of direction and second guessing whether I should continue down this road or go for something that's more stable and lucrative. I've always considered going for an MBA (I've an engineering degree too, so that's always been an option, at least in our country), but now I'm really thinking about casting all aspersions out and just go for it.

I still would like to do something with my writing chops, try and make a career out of them. But I'm not sure what I can do, which will provide me with a constantly progressing job with a paycheck that goes hand in hand. Any and all suggestions are appreciated. Thanks :)

“AI won’t replace you, people who work with AI will”

Yes AI will take over a lot of grunt work. That means you might not have to write every word, but you’d still have to think (original) or creative and feed in the right prompts for it to write. AI might do grammar check etc but you’d still edit it by suggesting the tone or narration you want for your content.

In AI era, your technical skills will be automated. But not your soft skills, your human edge. So can you work on that and really stand out?

Somewhat true, we use AI on a daily basis to generate seo content, and the boring time consuming work is gone, you now just have to supervise the AI on every step, and it takes 1/10th of time

Sounds like something I can get behind. But how much do you think we'll be compensated for it, and would it be fair to either of the parties, if at all?

And what do you think the future holds for us? Are we going up the ladder or down the well? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Highly unlikely.
If you’re creative and have soul it’s very unlikely that AI will replace what you bring to the table through your own experiences and emotions. Upskill nevertheless.

Even if the AI doesn't take over, the salary is peanuts in this field. Better to move to some other sector/job.

I've heard freelancing holds more monetary promise, with time of course.
