IT and Hair, Skin and back problems

I have observed and experienced the way IT engineers and many other similar professionals are working a lot, spending nights and day, constantly hooked onto laptops, many of us are losing a lot of hair, have dull skin and face a lot of other issues.

There are a lot of issues that we don't observe like fatty lever, cholesterol, vitamin deficiency, back problems and many more. These problems don't surface in 4-6 months or a year. They will be there when we maintain unhealthy lifestyle over couple of years.

Have seen people in 35 looking like 50 with grey hair, dull skin and unhealthy. Have seen a lot of people spending day and night on laptop voluntary even after having kids. I am 100% sure no family would want to see you guys working all night. What these people will tell their family is I have a lot of work when it's not the case

Contd- No family member want to see them totally into work and unable to give family time. While many people do it voluntary, that increases the expectation within the team and if everyone does it at the cost of family time than also I don't think company is gonna give everyone a great appraisal. Total effort required to get the same rating will increase and ideally everybody will get what they would have got earlier.

Everyone is just busy with working and achieving something more without considering what we are losing. Have we factored in all of this in our expected compensation or just underselling or may be we find that these are non negotiable and you are not willing to take any compensation for the loss of your health and family time.

Have we even thought about this? If no will you still choose whatever you are doing after thinking this or you want a switch, a better package or a better company which values work life balance more.
