IT services in India 📉?
What do you think, most companies are directly setting shops (GCCs) here. Will it lead to degrowth of the industry?
Foreign companies hiring Indians directly is way better than shitty IT service companies
Good from an employee standpoint, but from revenue coming to India standpoint its negative
Revenue coming to India?
If they hire 100 contractors or 100 employees? Which will make more money for India?
Simple, Cognizant knows only way to get competitive without increasing pay is allow permanent WFH. Majority of Cognizant will WFH ,the company can't be bullied by state governments either if everybody works from home. TCS was wrong to mandate 5 day office when their salaries don't compete. Future is here. So the incentive for employees is not salary but being in hometown.
Yeh agree to this, People who have worked in the industry for several years now know the benefits of staying in hometown. It’s ok to take lesser pay and save on rents, transportation, education of kids in these inflated metros. Just do a team meetup once a quarter for team building and save money on leasing.
Correct, Politicians have very limited leverage on IT companies like Cognizant - they can just leave and get "warm bodies" from rest of South Asia for low level work. Moreover, although I chose tk settle in Bengaluru - I came from a small town and started my career in Mumbai. I always felt my Mumbai friends have limited life experiences. Small town gave me those opportunities. There is nothing wrong in raising kids in a small town. Its actually better.
Rather work for foreign MNCs directly with better perks then slave for Narayana Murthys 70 hr work week slave factories
Makes sense to move outside of more expensive location heck even tier two cities make sense with the salary they pay .. Bangalore ones should also follow the suit and setup ships in mysore or airport udupi etc
