A masterful stroke by Jio. If the 29/month gives access to all the amazing HBO content that only they have access to, that's incredible value.

Just monetize IPL and get recurring $1B as revenue.
Why ain't they doing this, I understand ad based profit but why not paid subscription? 😕
Like hotstar did this earlier successfully.
They will do it soon, Hotstar also showcased IPL for free in the initial 2 years. They moved to paid approach starting the 3rd year.
Plus they want to push the narrative that Digital is bigger than TV, which will not happen if they kept IPL behind paywall.
Because IPL reach on TV was ~ 510 Mn
On Digital it was 449 Mn (as stated by Jio, no way to verify this)
Assuming 1cr paid subscribers whereas TAM is 20cr.
So it's just 5% of TAM
They took away my kid’s favorite movie from prime to jio cinema prime. I am staring at the day where i have to this subscription.
Let them integrate completely.

Jio paid almost 5000 Cr for digital streaming rights of IPL - I wonder if they actually make actual money from any of this, or is the whole thing just written off as a marketing spend?
Hotstar manged 6-7cr users. Jio or sports 18 group can't manage even 2cr users.
they should poach hotstar team or get AWS services...
There should be penalty for ruining experience of consumers.
