Journalists using Grapevine to publish scoops
Is this just me or others also think that nowadays all news on startups and companies are coming from grapeviner’s post? Good old journalism is dead and most startup’s journalist are using grapevine posts to write scoops on startups. Sometime without checking and citing anonymous sources. As soon as a new grapevine get posted, within hours it is all over the news. Dear Journalist friends, if nothing atleast give some credit to grapevine in your stories 😉
I posted that Dunzo 50% salary delay last week, got traction and shared it with Grapevine on Twitter, then it was picked up by the Media folks. When it was published by the Media, there were just 2 comments from people who had Dunzo in their Company name who had agreed with my post.
Makes me wonder, is it so easy to spread fake news - I can post something spicy, then create 2-3 IDs and make some comments, get traction by replying to each comment left on the post and other ways and voila it will soon start trending. And then the media picks it up. They may or may not reach out to the Company, just state "reaching out to the Company who refused to comment on the news" and just publish it.
Where are the checks? Controls?
Wait but what you wrote was incorrect? Or was that real?
Also on this. I think the good media houses will always do their research and then post. Eg. MorningContext with MojoCare. They first spoke with more employees and then wrote a long article, and ultimately that article unearthed a lot more stuff
That's ideally how it should work
Its true
