Karan Bajaj is the OG! Ik that this is controversial
The more I read about him, the more intrigued I am. Seems like a grounded guy
I honestly had a bias against him as the brand he built did a few things that weren't right to be honest. Wouldn't have maybe been the case if they would've toned down their growth rate to grow ethically and organically.
Took enough risk as the sole founder, understood the VC game and made 800 crores personally from the acquisition.
But listening to him makes me change my perspective a bit. Personally for me, I've always taken bad risks and he seems to have left a lot of career opportunities that others would die for. He's explored spirituality (he quotes his personal tragedy) travelled etc.
I don't know or have vetted his current work, but he seems to be giving back to the society now, settled in Goa - https://youtu.be/S5G9H5QJ368?si=O5E4Sj95hs37jSpx. what are your thoughts?
Isn't this what many people are searching for (greater purpose)? atleast the ones I know in my circle
His book was amazing. Dude’s on a different level, I really admire him.
He mentioned in the book that number required to retire will take 15-20 yrs of corporate work and he despised the idea. Built WhiteHatJr for exactly this.
Quick to realise this wasn’t going anywhere so dumped it to byjus and now chilling somewhere in south america creating content. OG.
He was crystal clear on his goal and did on point execution to reach where he wanted to be. Financial freedom, still practicing forced poverty - wilful poverty like he calls it.
How about Ranjan
Who is Ranjan? Sorry for my ignorance
Yet another Bajaj
I thought he went to south American after the white hat junior Sale. Also heard that the deal was 2000 crore. Was 1200 crore belonging to the investors
He's back in India now it seems, LinkedIn checks out.
He says 800 crores in the YouTube video.
He might have diluted his stakes after seed, series A. Rest of the stakes might be with the earlier investors.
He is a different breed. When he sold WHJ, people thought he was cashing out early but now it is clear he timed it right.
It was sold for ~2000crs. From what I have heard he was supposed to get a few hundred crores from earnouts which was like just 3-4 months away but he chose to exit Byjus before that.
Oh, i didn't know about the earnout part!
This rather sounds like a change my mind post. But there are a few things to learn for fellow founders
