Layoff terror

I'm currently in the Junior year of my college and I've received an internship offer as a SDE from one of the respected companies(hasn't laid off anyone yet). Since 2024 is the year I graduate, I was wondering what the scenario might be according to the people senior to me. Will we be a victim to the situation as well! The terror is for real :/

Cannot say about 2024 until mid of 2023. AFAIK, I've seen LinkedIn posts of 2023 grads saying their offer letter has been reprimanded.

I'm not fear mongering, saying what I have observed.

P.S: Just keep upskilling, that's all I say. There are organisations who are still hiring in this phase.

Nothing will happen and this is not the first layoff season. Previously it happened in 2000, 2017 and still people survived and also grew in their career and had/have the best or better compensation. I think you should focus on LC and other tech skills that you are interested in or will be valuable in 2024 or 2025.

Also, the future is unpredictable and so relax and enjoy the present.

That is indeed true, thank you! I'm a competitive programmer so my chances of aceing technical rounds is pretty decent, currently m trying to study more about Deep L. I'm hoping to learn a lot from my internship as well. Hope for the best🤞
