Life or No life
I am in a tricky situation with no hopes for promotion soon. Already spent a good 7-9 years of my career here. I want to take a break and rethink, maybe do an MBA or CFA Not sure whether I need a break or am being frustrated and lazy. Not sure if I will pick back that momentum I had in my initial career time.
Also an opportunity has come knocking at the door, for a completely new field when I was mentally preparing myself to disengage from work. What to do, ??
I know it's my decision, but a 3rd person speaking honestly would help me a lot! - Need some good advice!

Pursue CFA. You are not being lazy, you are exhausted. You need a break

Go for it. Life is too short to slog off at a work you are not passionate about. What I learnt in my life is that never stop until you find your passion. I switched two fields till I found what I loved doing.

- You are not being lazy, but exhausted
- You can have productive phases, where you'll be super pumped to do great and then there will be phases where you'll just go with the flow. Happens with time. For the majority of people, that passion and enthusiasm that you have in your early career days to learn and do things doesn't come back. I might find an interesting project but won't be able to give the same amount of energy that I could early on
- As you mentioned you have been there for 7+9 years, things might have stagnated as well. Taking up this new opportunity can be good in that sense
- Explore this option where you take a month or two break before taking up this new opportunity. If they're more willing to let you take some leaves. after you join, that can also work as long as you get your break.

Take a break, if you can afford to. clear your mind. Opportunity will always be there.
If you are not in a good headspace , you will not be able to give your 100% and do justice.
