I am not sure what has happened. Is it just me ?

Hello,

I am a Sr. Native Android developer working in Kotlin and Java. That's my bread and butter for the last 10 plus years I have been coding, I have been doing a good job at it.

Worked in various capacities as Jr. Sr. Lead developer also as a mentor all the while which is my favourite part. To make people believe in themself is very rewarding.

I have been working honestly for the last 10 years, coding since 2010 and I really loved it. Last years my company had a layoff(more like shitty politics and old people were fired). I have been trying to find a remote job from that point, but I don't know what's the problem. I cannot really get one.

I wanted a remote job, I have my family here in Goa. My old age parents need my help and I want to be around to live with them. Also I believe that remote job is good way to balance and earn good money.

Is it just me ? Or is this happening to you too ? I have applied at so many places I am not getting any calls. Some interviews I have answered people don't reply and tell if you are selected or not. Some places I have failed for silly reasons (like not knowing compose, post which I learnt it.)

I feel like I am stuck, and I don't know where and how. Is it normal at the age of 32 to not get interview? Is it because I am doing Native Android ? Is it because I am asking for remote job ? Is it because I am having a 1 year break? (Doing a freelance project and failed startup)

What am I doing wrong ? What is your experience ?

I don't mind switching tech, but does it even help ? As of now I have working in typescript and next, worked in backend on freelance projects but I seem to not even get an interview for fresher roles. I think after a level coding becomes more of understanding and more fundamental rather then being specific. Hence whatever I have learnt can be applied at other techs and successfully be used.

If you guys have any leads or a kind word to share then let me know. Or any questions too you can ask. Sorry for ranting out but I am not sure what's happening.
