Mental harassment at Deloitte from clients

Context - Since Deloitte does not get a lot of projects, they bend over their knees in front of clients and do each and everything like literally peon, clerk jobs too if client asks them to.

I was deployed at a client location 5 days a week and was not giving any specific work to do but was told "Jo client bole wo karna hai". Client was a 24 yr old kid earning 80% lesser than me. He used to hurl abuses in the office, on weekends and even behaved physically inappropriately at times. When I informed the manager, he was like " tumse client handle nahi hora".

Even after raising it to HR, no action was taken and manager also got promotion inspite of being the one aware about everything and not stepping up. I was given way below appraisal than industry and company average and have been pushed aside by the company.

Is it similar with their USI division as well?

BubblyNugget

Since USI division is backend entity, I presume they might not face harrasments from client because they don't interact with them on frequent basis. It's only a PPT making division

Very interesting. Can you give me similar insights regarding USI? Have a friend planning to join.

Deloitte does not get a lot of projects?? How so? Aren't they the largest consulting firm out there?

BubblyNugget
BubblyNugget

Nope, whatever projects they get are discounted upto 50-60% which impacts the billability and appraisals

I’m so sorry you have to go through this. I went through this ordeal last year and the client was the Indian offices of a big US product firm. There were multiple standups in a day where the client manager would literally insult the contractors in front of his team. We were putting in 14-15 hours avg every day and everyday there was a change of requirement which was “urgent” and “needed to be handled in this sprint itself”.

I raised my concern but the client was a big ticket account for my employer so nothing much was done.

The result - I left the company 10 months in. I was burnt out. I am sorry I don’t have any positive answer for you and I hope your condition gets better. But that’s how majority of these Indian clients are. They believe they are entitled to ask and do anything when they are paying.

And if you wish to change, check out listings on http://att.jobs if you see anything you like. Send me your resume on smiler.locks.0j@icloud.com

I’d be happy to refer you.

Hey, thanks a lot for sharing your experience. It honestly helped me to know that I'm not the only victim of this so called sophisticated corporate culture. Would love to connect with you if that's okay with you

This seems like a problem where ur manager is not handling the issue properly. Although Deloitte as a firm is a great place to work. Also I don't understand ur comment " Client gets paid 80% lesser than me" , anyone getting paid more or less than you doesn't define their worth anymore or less. You might have been given the short end of the stick that I empathize with you , but I sense an attitude issue with you.

I made the salary comment because the client was very well aware of the salaries that we as consultants used to get and he would make those comments to us " tum logo ki salary toh bohot hai toh tum Karo ye kaam, you're getting paid for it" and used to dump unnecessary work on us. I apologize if that indicated any generalization on correlation of salary and talent. I personally started from 3lpa

Ok now the circumstances are clear. This seems like a bad situation for you. Try to get out of that account or better move to a different firm
