It's cold and salaries are mediocre but is a good way to move to the US once you get citizenship for higher salary. Housing problem has gotten worse so it's hard to afford a house there but so is true everywhere. If you can start a side business in Canada while doing a full time job then it's more lucrative.

Pros -
The worklife is absolutely incredible. Get used to not working beyond 5pm and your weekends finally being free of work.
Cons -
You might need to take 1 step back to get your foot into an org (Example if you were a senior manager in India you might have to start as a manager)

2 watchouts -

  1. anyone who talks to you about "Canadian experience" being a thing, this is absolute nonsense. Worked here for 4 years now and sat for multiple interviews, not ONCE have I been asked for Canadian experience. There is a different style to interviews here and nailing that is more imp vs this myth of needing Canadian experience.
  2. Maintain very strong networks back in India to easily return with a job if you ever need to. I've tried to return to India recently for family reasons and found it just impossible. Hiring managers and HR in India just refuse to believe that you might have a legit reason to come back and they're constantly suspicious you might run back to Canada again. Not necessary but an important route you wanna keep open just in case.

Hope this helps. :)

Cons - Socialist economy with limited growth opportunities, lower salaries and higher tax(Medicare is double edged in some cases) intense winters; Pros - Strong south Asian diaspora, negligible institutional racism, good starting point if you want to migrate to US eventually.

If you want to settle down and start a family it’s great but could be a foot in the leg if you’re super ambitious and want to grow exponentially in your career. Choose wisely and good luck!

Who's hiring? I have CRS in low 480s so I can't get the EE directly to go and search there.

How's the job market for 3-4yoe?

I’m trying to assess that myself

Same. Moving there later this year after getting my PR in May. Those who want to figure it out will figure it out regardless, I guess 🫡

Good luck to us!

It's a good place to get exposure. Keep in mind you won't suddenly increase your standard of living (quality of life will be better for sure)

That said, definitely go, get some exposure and it might help you decide where you want to settle down :)
