MSCS IN USA or Stay in India

I'm currently working as a software engineer in India, with TC 45LPA and 2 years of experience. I'm thinking about applying for a Master's in CS in the USA for fall 2024. But I'm not sure if I want to settle there or not currently. Should I make the move considering things are going well in India? Getting a job directly in the US seems close to impossible. Any advice? Thanks!

India is an exponentially growing market. There are thousands of layoffs happening in the US, it's better to stay in India right now.

Plus by making 45L, you are living like the top 3-5% of India. Why go to the US and live like poor 😛

I am hoping situation will be different after 2 years even in US as I will be doing MS.

It's the top 3-5% officially. Really it's probably not even in the top 15%.

Any reason?

Do you need a reason to stay in your home?

You earn handsomely, you got family and friends closeby, you avoid visa and travel issues. What more do you want

45LPA sounds so damn comfortable man. But i suggest if u really really wanna further your career quickly, go abroad.

If you’re going, make sure you’re gonna go for 2+5 years at the very least; otherwise don’t go

5+ years of work ex in USA will add value to resume + more importantly will give you lot of money in INR terms

Don’t go if you’re planning to work for only 2-3 years, not worth it

If you’re looking to settle permanently for decades, then tbh Europe is better - look for opportunities in europe

Yes, I don’t want to settle permanently. I will work for 6-7 years if I go

One question. Will it be difficult to find a job in India if one is returning from US or it will be an advantage?

USA or not, go do higher studies in a good university, decide after that where you want to settle.

If you don’t want to settle in the US, given the current yoe and ctc, staying in India will be a much better option

Doesn't make sense to go to USA at all
