Fresher here.
1.) I want to know what should my selection criteria be while choosing a mutual fund? 2.) Is it wise to invest in ELSS funds just for the sake of reaping tax benefits?

Want to learn more about investing in general. Can you suggest some technical references(not books like Rich Dad Poor Dad please)?

If you are thinking for long term, then its a best option. Selection criteria depends on your risk profile, your time horizon maily and also on your SIP amount monthly.

For long term investing, you need to go with mid cap or small cap funds but be careful while selecting mid cap and small cap funds becos cost of wrong fund is too high.

ELSS funds are for taking tax benefit. It's surely good. But it has lockin period of 3 years. So you need to keep in mind of lockin period.

I'm not a book reader, I've learn mutual funds and investing from my father's experience.

Rate my portfolio
Nifty50 Next50 Ppltef - 27 % each

If you are long term investor then don't invest in passive funds like nifty 50 or next 50. They are for the people who can't do research and also don't like to take advise from distributor or advisor.

You also need to rebalance your portfolio asset allocation becos for long term investor, that's not a perfect allocation.

My rating for your portfolio will be 3 or 4 out of 10.

Reason - index fund and ppfas
In my opinion, ppfas fund are risky because whole amc is standing because of one fund (flexi cap). So i would not recommend it & if i need to then allocation should not be more than 10%.

I have good knowledge of the stock market technical and fundamental as well, it's been 1 year and I have got 45% returns on my portfolio, should I start investing in mutual funds, as I have good knowledge I don't think of giving my money to someone else
