Anyone who is 32+ and working in startups?
What’s the experience like? Have you thought if joining a corporate would be better?
I got into a startup (informal) and invested my savings and also took loan from friends and family.
It would take a couple of years to clear up but I am happy thwt I didn't let go.of the opportunity and the learnings also realised the following. 1.I enjoyed the thrill 2.When something has to go wrong,It will 3.My priorities changed (family, health, mental peace) 4.I am enjoying what I have more than ever and not cribbing about what I don't have.
I am about to touch 40 and lose all savings(instead loans on the head) but I have never felt so calm ;)
Anyone with a similar life altering experience 😉
@Angrybirdd - would you pls throw more light on this topic. How did you invest in this startup and how much? Also what would be the main learnings from this ?
By the sound of it, looks like they invested major capital for sure.
What the startup was about doesn't matter in this context. Learning listed in the post.... And some additional below
Shit happens and whatever happens, you have to embrace it with a positive mind and work towards what's best for you.
You will lose your mind, overpowered by your insecurities but you have to gain control of yourself and bounce back...no matter what, the past has passed and you cannot lose your present over the past and screw your future.
Also don't lose your hustle mindset.... You never know when you hit the jackpot.
4.Sometimes I do get into anxiety mode, but then I have prioritised my family, health, peace
5.I have navigated 13 months with all this shit and I survived so I will survive more and I m working on myself now rather than any other venture.
As said in the Shark tank "Down but not out" 😔
What was the startup? How did you loose it? Do you have kids 😨
I would not like to go deep into what it was was and how I lost.... It would be a long story ( shorter verysion don't give the right perspective) and I don't have kids and nor do I intend to have 😉
@Angrybirdd - at least tell us the teachings you got. Also how did you invest
#3 is most critical. Kudos on that!
Don’t let that go.
Thanks ...you are a Mentor/Adv so what kind of mentorship/Advising do you do
Arre, We spoke on call yday/day before. Mai wahi huun 😁
Mentor/Advisor is mostly from lingo, I help startups on everything and anything in my capability. Fund raise, growth, org building, product mgt, hiring, metrics to look out for, and weird ideas. 😀
Legend
You may think you’re out of it, but pretty soon you’ll want to hustle again. That’s what I thought when I was winding down my own venture. It was bootstrapped though. Joined another organisation and took loans so that the thought of starting up has no space in my head. 3 years later, I just wanna close all loans again and get back to building something.
I feel you mate .. Let's catch up... May I drop my email so that we can connect
Absolutely. Feel free

For anyone stepping into the world of building, just be okay with the above. It'll be true, no matter how much you fall.
It can be anything related to not doing something you always wanted to but never did, a mistake you realize you shouldn’t have made, or feelings of not being successful enough. Feel free to share your thoughts.
Failed to spend enough time with my parents. Life moves really fast. If you're around your parents take care of them,...
I've been in startups for the last 8 years. From Series B/C onwards to even a unicorn, over time worked at 3. One of them was an outright scam, raised many millions of $s from top investors, and then ultimately died. Also close with ...
A startup with experienced folks and a well defined set of roles and responsibilities >>> one where we're all "a family"
Life is hard, and plans don't always turn out the way they should. But when we look back over our lives, we realize that some decisions really changed the course of our lives for the better.
