My manager is 10 years younger to me

When I found out I’d be reporting to someone 10 years younger, I wasn’t exactly excited. I’ve got years of experience, seen it all, and it felt... weird. Part of me was a bit defensive, maybe even a little ego kicked in. 😅

But guess what? I was completely wrong.

Working with a younger manager has been one of the best things. Seriously. The energy this person brings is insane – always full of ideas, willing to try new things, and pushing boundaries. I didn’t even realize how set in my ways I had gotten until I started working with someone who sees things so differently.

What really surprised me is the respect we have for each other. It’s not about age or experience – it’s just teamwork. We both have our strengths, and it’s more about using them than focusing on who’s older or younger. The balance we’ve found is great.

And honestly, I’ve learned a lot from them. They handle pressure so well, and they're always open to feedback. Leadership isn’t about age – it’s about who can inspire and lead a team. I don’t even think about age anymore.

A few years ago, if someone told me I’d enjoy reporting to someone younger, I’d have laughed. But here we are. I’ve picked up some of their habits, and it’s keeping me sharp.

So yeah, for anyone nervous about working under someone younger – drop the ego 🙂
