Job switch
Hi folks I am having 7 years experience as a senior data analyst in Walmart and on the higher side of salary. Looking for a switch Which company can I target for considering no salary cut?
Two days back I had a call with Walmart Hr regarding offer. I gave my previous compensation 22 l fixed 2 bonus 5 per year esops. I said 29 L fix as expectation. (Though I am okay with better than 22 l ) as I know I have very less skills and I need to learn a lot to get a good salary tbh. I joined as SDE last company but exited as sde 2. My increment would have happened in October but got laid off in Sept. So she said no for this salary and didn't give a good feeling that a good salary she will propose and said we can't give this definitely be ready for negotiation kind off.
So. Are there any points that I can use for negotiation? I am an immediate joiner. If I join Walmart then it would be my 3rd company in 3.5 years of my career and j don't want to make job hops.
I have nobody who can give me some advice.
So, in my head I think I can take whatever my salary is and after working on my weak areas are and then after 1.5 years change to a better company but another job hop will happen. I am not working since the past 5 months. Don't know how to handle thoughts in my head. Please guide.
Bro nothing wrong in job hopping when companies are disloyal to its employees then why the f they are expecting the same from the employees... So just settle with the package and company that suits your skills and experience, 🤠 Just chill and relax njoy bro
Congratulations for cracking Walmart! ✌🏼
I would advise against any hard negotiation from your side.
A few reasons for this are market conditions (next wave of layoffs happening in the tech world right now), already 5 months gap from the last job, lastly Walmart is good company and a few lakhs will not make much difference in the long run.
Basically you have less leverage currently due to your personal situation and more supply of SDEs (further more coming into the job market in the next set of weeks). Good luck!
Yeah. This is what I was thinking
First of congratulations! You’re doing good. Don’t be worried.
You’ve right to negotiate. Walmart negotiates. With the new numbers you asked, they’ll likely comeback (give you if your ask is valid and meets their and market standard).
Regarding future, don’t be worried and overthink it. Go with the flow. See if market improves or deteriorates. Focus on what you’ve now. And I think right now you don’t have many offers. So go with this one.
Good luck
Yeah. This is what I think I will do
Ask for more bonus 😄
20% of your base is bonus. No negotiation here
Are you getting hike from prev. Job ? Toh go for it.
Hey, as long as you feel that you don't deserve it they will see through it. The fact that they are offering shows that the skills you have are enough.
The biggest leverage you have according to me is :
You can join right away. I would use it to negotiate. Emphasize the fact that you're willing to join right away if the right offer is right. Otherwise let them know that you would like to take a couple of weeks and evaluate other offers.(Make sure you give them a fixed date very specific, tell them that you're in process with a couple of other firms who are willing to offer 29L)
The biggest factor in your success or failure of negotiation would be your confidence. The more confident you are, the better your chances.
Hopefully, this helps and you get close to 29L. All the best!

Hello folks, how can one negotiate salary who is not on any job and ready for immediate joining? Does the gap decreases chances of getting expected renumeration? How to deal with HR's taking undue advantage?
HR is is trying to lowball me into accepting an offer at my current compensation stating market conditions. I don’t have any other offers yet. What can be done here? 🥲
Hi everyone, I was working in Persistent Systems from last 2 years and had a CTC of 5.5 LPA. I got laid off from persistent as I was on bench for 2 months. Now I am about to join TCS with data engineer role. So how much salary hike I cou...
