New CEO lays off in first month
Product Hunt hired a new CEO last month (in September). This guy deduced in 1 month that they need to fire people? That too with such a generic BS reason.
Doesn't it take atleast a quarter to understand how the business and all the systems work at a new place? You haven't even seen through your first quarterly results and review.
Seems to me that the Board installed a new CEO that they could control because they wanted to layoff.
Can other people share what they know or think could've happened?
People have become too comfortable laying off left and right because they woke up on the wrong side. We need to ensure consequences for such actions but there aren't any. This trigger-happy laying off has probably become the norm.
What consequences? Ever held a position of any substance? Ever built a business where your neck was on the line for the PnL? Easy to commentate how Cricketers should play, sitting at a paan ka tapri watching on TV my friend.
Consequences like never being able to entice / recruit anyone to join your team. Consequences like the execs not getting bonuses by the Board because they laid off.
I have in fact held a position of substance and unfortunately even had to let go of all of my company. We gave a notice many months in advance and provided as much support (financial and otherwise) as we could to everyone during the shutdown.
Now who's the one sitting at the chai ka tapri commenting on things they don't understand? That is you, loser.
This guy has been only a product manager in a few startups and a founder of his own company 😁. Very short stints everywhere . Would be interesting seeing how this shapes up
