L6 staff at google- AMA

I am currently a SDE-2 at a US based product company (Forte: Payments). I interviewed with Google and after all the rounds the HR called and told that I will be offered L3 only.
The compensation will be basic Google L3 only but I am not comfortable with getting downleveled. I was expecting to get in at L4.
The review from interview rounds is positive. Should I go ahead with the team matching process and try to convince the hiring manager to give L4 / settle with L3 / leave the opportunity.
pls suggest.
Levels don't necessarily equate between organisations. L3 at google is not the same entry level role as you might think, it is equivalent to SE2 in a lot of orgs.
The level you are offered would have been based on your interviews, However if you believe you meet the requirements for L4, you can consider asking the HM. You might have to go through another round of interviews. Alternatively you can ask them why you're being considered for L3, and what steps you will need to take to reach the next level within the next 6 months.
What kind of team is Google offering ? If work is good then take it - Google on resumes matter.

Heard from someone that Google is extensively lowballing new hires, providing way lesser average base pay and stock grant as compared to 2023/2022. They are taking advantage of a bad job market. Is the brand name still worth it?
