Opinion on Browserstack

Hey Grapeviners

Anybody here working with with Browserstack? On paper things look glorious and I’m connected with a few folks on LinkedIn as well. The employer branding looks good. I’m in love with their remote-first policy.

I am thinking of making Browserstack my next target company to work at.

Honest opinions and insider info welcome here. Any Referrals would also be appreciated.

Stay away from the Browserstack. The shit show has been going on for a long time. Currently they're laying off as well.

WLB is the worst. I know a lot of folks who are at BS currently. Even I know their Director of Engineering as well. A lot of folks left due to culture and wlb issues. They started hiring and stopped midway through. The leadership is not good. Too much attrition.

Pros

Solid Product + Roadmap
Really smart CTO & CEO
Interesting Problems and Projects to work on
Future looks bright - even with economic slowdown the company isn’t in too much danger. (the current layoffs/head count reduction is for non performers)
Super dynamic workplace, the company is always looking to improve.
WFH (but you NEED to establish boundaries very soon after joining; all the WLB posts I’ve seen so far are because people don’t know how to say no politely)

Cons

Progression/Growth depends on how much your manager/director likes you
Once you prove yourself as a half decent resource, management will suck the life out of you. Forget having a life outside of work (ESTABLISHING BOUNDARIES IS IMPORTANT)
There’s a lot of False promises made by HR during hiring. Make sure you get everything on paper.
