This essay is awesome.

But I'm sorry did Paul Graham ever found a company himself in the last 20-30 years?

Hes founded the biggest accelerator in the world that runs like a successful company with employees, customers (startups) and all other metrics that are used to judge companies. Search up y combinator.

"Hire good people and give them room to do their jobs. Sounds great when it's described that way, doesn't it? Except in practice, judging from the report of founder after founder, what this often turns out to mean is: hire professional fakers and let them drive the company into the ground.”

Pure gold!

Someone document Founder mode. So we can better understand it. Somehow it feels a lot of information may be lost in skipping levels

Big companies go down the drain, because the professional CEOs aren't paranoid about stuff

Being Paranoid doesn't mean being worried about everything all the time or not letting any fire run.. it's not about the size of input (or lack of) either ... it's about ability to visualize the potential size of the outcome that arises from certain actions (or inaction)

Nobody can be as paranoid as the founder themselves. You should be really really lucky to find a professional CEO who's as paranoid as you are.

It's also about willing to not let the status quo/ popular opinion determine the direction (for eg WFH / remote for your org). You are a founder because you went against status quo @BiryaniEnthu

Paul g and y combinator is overhyped tbh. Seeing their latest posts shared by their founding team and partners it's evident they either don't understand tech or are over hyping AI so much just to over value the products / startups they have invested in . At the end of the day it's just about signalling and marketing and creating hype . Stopped taking them seriously lately
