Peak Bengaluru Corruption!
Tldr: Bengaluru transport commission has banned share rides using Quick ride, bla bla car, etc.
I hate it but they are right. Using private vehicles to earn revenue isn't fair on cab/auto drivers who have to pay for their public vehicle license. What wud stop people from lending out their cars to Uber?
Quickride is at fault here. For carpooling, make it informal, use whatsapp/telegram and pay in kind/cash. Don't build an industry around it by circumventing regulations.
I do understand the logic behind banning private vehicles. But given the increasing use of driverless vehicles and shared vehicles, instead of banning it altogether, why not do some feasibility study surrounding how much it actually hurts and in the benefits of car pooling on the other hand. Make new rules that adapt to the situation rather than banning things that works for so many people.
What if the auto/cab driver lobby strike and ask to pay back their commercial vehicle license money? Why shud they pay those taxes?
Tax roads for congestion, ban apps that help reduce it. Smart city.
