Actual layoffs = 10x reported layoffs
Very crucial to upskill oneself in specific domains. I believe the frugality is there to stay. Just like most government reports, the actual layoffs are much higher than what you read in news.
I noticed a trend on LinkedIn that people use the layoffs as an excuse to preach others that if you constantly upskill and learn then you will be safe from layoffs.
To any freshers who believe in this crap listen this - The folks who got laid off from companies are not in any way underskilled. I've seen my colleagues get laid off at my previous company who were extremely talented and responsible for building products from scratch.
These companies layoff people randomly and not skill based. They choose the people who are drawing more salary (often the most skilled) and fire them in the name of cost cutting. So, how does upskilling will help this situation?
Note that, the current tech market is unstable and will continue to be for next few years. Upskilling may get you up the corporate ladder but it won't in anyway save you from impending layoffs. The so-called influencers preaching this should STOP.
NOTICE this post, how this guy conveniently skipped mentioning Google layoffs in the list, since he currently works ar Google 😆
I swear dude, the subtle condescension is so annoying. "Don't be in your comfort zone" and shit - as if (most) people aren't already trying their best to stay up to date and keep their skills sharp. Sounds like classic victim blaming, if you ask me.
It is. But they also need to churn content because how else will they stay relevant as a "thought leader"
Why do people even give attention to these cringe influencer posts on LinkedIn. I've seen the same stupid recycled shit being posted by 5 different people. Scroll instagram if you want to doom scroll. LinkedIn posts are stupid asf 9 times out of 10.

As we know tech companies and startups are laying off people left and right irrespective of making profits 🤑💰. It's understandable if the companies are out of funds but doing this when you are enjoying profits is not acceptable.
