People working in Mumbai, how exactly did you find a home?
Just as the title says, how on earth were you able to find a decent flat/pg? I'll be moving to Andheri East next week and I have been trying hard to find affordable renting options but haven't been able to. The properties are either way too expensive, ask for way too high security deposit or just don't prefer bachelors. Brokerage is also a problem. What helped you all in finding a decent flat? Any leads would be helpful. TIA!

Look for areas such as Chakala, Mahakali and Sher-e-punjab. You might find cheaper apartments in older buildings.
It’s always difficult to find a place for bachelors; sad reality of Mumbai or any other city. Security is max 3 months but you can also reduce it to 2 months if you have good negotiation skills.
What’s your budget?

Thanks I am already checking out Sher-e-Punjab, will look for options in other 2 places as well. Rn, I'm trying to look at places close to my office. We are a group of 4 people. Our budget for a flat is around 50-60k and for a decent private room in a PG, 20k per head (haven't been able to find any till now)

50-60 k is a good budget. I have friends who stay in that area and pay 45-50k for a 2bhk.
Just remember commute on the western expressway - sakinaka is really bad on weekdays. Takes an hour to cover 1 km

Don't stay in Andheri East would be my suggestion.
Stay in Kandivali and travel to Andheri via Metro. Kandivali is cheap compared to Andheri and metro would take less than 20 mins to reach Andheri.
A much better deal than staying in Andheri and paying 10k-15k extra in rent.

Thanks!! Will definitely check this out!

Flat and flatmates. Also its mumbai so brokerage will stay high

Would suggest checking out buildings on JVLR. (Not the Oberoi ones)
