So had an interview at a Series A company.
Interviewer : First question was tell me why Kamala lost from first principals ....
Me : my reply was since you're talking about first principals I'll say an election is a vote so if we treat it as a funnel ...1 billion eligible voters ...800 million voted ...now segregation of this 800 million in user personas will show how each persona voted and possible hypothetical reasons for her not getting votes ...
Interviewer : said no just talk about Kamala not what other people did ...
Me : I was like okay I believe not many strong public appearances by her in podcasts etc that's why ...he said leave it next question...
Interviewer : there's a juice stall selling juices with straws ..some people use straws some don't...what do you recommend to the juice guy should he keep straws or eliminate them all together...
Me: my response was I'd just stand there for an hour or so do a quick guesstimate on the number of people using straws ... extrapolate that for a months inventory and just keep that ..and before giving out straws just ask people ...to reduce wastage by only giving it to people who need it...
Interviewer: he was like no ..if you give straws .. people drink their juices slower..hence they stay there for longer..hence you can cross sell and upsell them leading to higher AOV ..
Me : I was like fair but it goes under the assumption that people will use straws and not throw them away straight away ...he started saying something like that's the norm etc ...I was seething internally hence didn't focus ...what could I have done different...I hate such interviews making me under confident.
