I always wonder why people approach this issue with "engaging alternatives". The best way to wean people out of something is to make it a joke/dehumanise it.
Although it's a politically sensitive subject, - look at how leftist have/are trying to root out hinduism.
First go after the elites in society - do you see rich people in India proudly behave/exhibit their hindu affiliation?
2. Mock the belief system
3. Dehumanise it by projecting it as bad and make one ashamed to be associated with it
In the 80s before alcohol was a government revenue line, alcohol was a social taboo. We did not have these many alcoholics. Then it was made into fashion. Now we have bars/shops in every area.
Want to stop porn? The government should go after the movie industry. Make this media prostitution shame again. Women should know the difference between self respect and objectification. "Engaging alternatives" is like educating people not to drink and opening new shops at the same time. Untill women know the difference between self respect and objectification, this won't stop.
