Rant : Quarterly planning

• First you are asked to present a plan for next quarter in a week's time  • You come up with some random things to present  • You are told that the the targets (impact) are too low and given an unrealistic target.  • You present an unrealistic plan for the revised target.  • You are asked to get the stuff done in even less time and plan for it.  • Every month you're asked as to why the initiatives are not giving expected impact.  • At the end of the quarter you are asked (humiliated) why you're not able to deliver on the plan that you yourself made  • You are asked to present plans for the next quarter next week  • the cycle just repeats

I feel it’s complete waste of time. Esp if it’s not we’ll implemented.

Most of the time goes into creating some imaginary features that users don’t want and some random lift that we’ll get because of it.

Bad news, it's the same shit all the way to the top. The CEO is doing exactly the same thing for shareholders. FML

We also have quarterly planning but it's pretty chill, just a formality for bonus payout calculation, nobody follows the plan, at the end of quarter, people will just give them points in range of 0.95 to 1.15 out of 1.00 and that will be multiplied by total bonus amount. The whole quarterly thing is pretty chill at my current company

And on top of it at the year end variable pay & increments are reduced because we did not meet the unrealistic goals.

Someone please share how to say no to such planning without getting laid off 😩
