[Rant] We lack accountability in almost everything
I am fed up here as I don't see accountability anywhere. There was a Telugu Movie starring Mahesh Babu where he being CM says, in foreign, people are responsible and accountable and they made their lives beautiful. How amazing, right? I truly resonate with that thought
We lack accountability in everything we do.
- if something goes right, it's us, if wrong, it's them!
- We don't hold our govt politicians on their promises, on delivering things of value
- Companies go on screwing us, we don't give a damn. Refunds are processed without timelines, cases in country are backlogged for years and years
- We cannot even keep our cities clean, our air pure and our water drinkable and we are least bothered by it
- We cannot maintain our own infrastructure like Buses, railways, trains. We fucking are stealing mugs from railway toilets due to which it's chained (wtf!)
We don't want responsibility and no one should question us.
How are we really supposed to grow?
Stringent laws in place helps with accountability of companies who at all times think how can I squeeze more money from people and screw them
Accountability keeps everyone in check.
Change my view!
We can achieve that in single tenure if every minister/politician has a master's degree or a PhD
A lot of things here just needs a mentality change. You don't need masters degree to be accountable.
Are we willing to lose power from our hands or the feeling that we can get away with things? Are we ready to say - hold me accountable for any wrongdoing? Are we ready to say - these are the laws, CBI, ED etc aren't caged parrots. No one is above the law, everyone no matter what would be accountable for their actions.
And we needn't even go towards govt first, let's just think about ourselves, are we accountable? Do we deliver on things we promise? Do we apologize that we couldn't deliver? Do we own our mistakes? Do we think we are accountable to our managers, friends, relationships, clients etc etc
Too much of accountability is bad, also it's not that real
In my case, I always try to do my best, but not investing much about others.
Start with yourself :) and slowly involve others
Yes, that's correct. But how do you involve others? We cannot force anyone on it.
First do yourself:) that’s more difficult
Make accountability “cool”. I can see 2k kids are doing it pretty well. One of the traits, I like about them.
Can you explain a bit more. I am sure a lot of people are unaware of this
I don’t know how can I explain more as it is simple. Anyway, When so called “cool kids” does something, everyone starts doing it. It becomes a trend. Imagine a bunch of cool kids stops littering and if someone else starts littering it is considered uncool. It spreads quickly. I see 2k kids are more into anti-littering, anti-peeing in public. They want to treat animals with kindness. I see a lot of them eat clean. No tea and coffee, proper intake of food. Though they have their own dumb stuff going on, they get on with these trait easily.
Majority of Indian population is living like beggars with 10k monthly salary, they can't think beyond lunch and dinner. Even rich think that they can pollute as much as they want because there is always less fortunate slaves who can take care of all the mess. The ultimate result is that the country is Vishwa Guru in the minds of people while the reality is just the opposite.
It doesn't take money to uphold accountability.
I personally know so many people including myself who aren't accountable in a lot of things like even basic things of keeping promises no matter what
Physiologically Indians are trained to follow orders and work under colonial masters. People here want to run away from any accountability unless there is a fear of punishment. Democracy hasn't helped because people are ready to treat politicians as God and don't ask for accountability even from the government which they elect. Similarly in their daily life they want to act without any accountability. It's a cultural thing now.
Take case of Japan , post dropping of atomic bomb, an entire nation pulled it's socks up to rebuild their nation completely devasted economically physically and demographically. Each and every individual in that country decided to do whatever it takes through their actions to rebuild their country and lo and behold in just 30 years they surpassed their devastater in innovation in most areas and consultants from US visited Japanese factories to imitate their innovations. The bullet train or shinkansen has not had any accident till it's inception in 1967 and it's only being late by 5 sec few years back when entire managment apologised to the nation. That's a national character of Japan. Then do we need an event like dropping of nuclear bomb to rebuild India, perhaps not but we atleast need a good jolt to wake us up from this slumber! If each and every individual of this country can emulate Japanese people , India would actually be a superpower by 2047
Thank you @Fallenangel86 . You truly resonate with what I wanted to convey. Aligned completely to what you wrote❤️
