What I have learnt though is that titles mean jack shit at startups. Have seen some startups offer VP titles for folks with 1-5 years of work experience too. Some VC firms also give some analysts with 2 years of work experience the title of ‘Partner’!

Yeah, but what I had noticed is that since he's being followed by the PM, he has to pander to their ideology and stuff. He came into my Tl very recently when he was trying to communalise the K'taka Vehicle Govt scheme. Just some days back went through his tl and got an idea about his profile.
Do startups not do background checks before hiring?
Because writing on Linkdin is one thing but getting jobs based on fake degrees is another game.
Someone with so many followers will make any company (even bigger ones like IBM and Infosys, not just a startup) believe that this guy is legit.
Not true, bigger companies follow the process. These startups (especially EdTechs) want to leverage the reach and make things work for them.
Recently I was talking to a girl who was working a startup in BLR. She left the startup with some horrendous experiences. This startup was working from a startup hostel in BLR. Things she told me shook me. She was dating the founder.
