Regarding plausibility of switch from Qualcomm

Hi I currently work in Qualcomm as a Software Engineer. I am from 2022 batch. I am in one of the teams where we are doing core software engineering work in C programming language. How hard is it for someone to shift from such a role to a proper Backend Engineer role in a Product based company where the product is more dev centric than some org like Qualcomm?

Been in that situation before. You need to follow 2 important things -

  1. You will need to make a switch early in your career. Be it org/team.
  2. Learn about one Lang+framework for prod level code. Be it Java/spring or python/django etc. Have some knowledge of frontend to some extent (take course of react/angular etc.) But important is the lang+framework for backend. If you are unable to switch team within org. Then try to contribute to open source projects, etc. But do something. Learning framework vs. actually working in it is a big big difference.

Although most companies will ask you through projects, even if they don't and you do not have experience in same, you will land on water once you join them. And that's why it's important equally that you make switch early.

Hope this answers your question.

I m just starting out, in the C Programming domain. Just curious to know why shift from this domain. To paraphrase do you see any downside in the Core electronics / Software Engineer based from C?
