We need to see a drastic Equity down market ASAP!

The current dream run is misguiding today's new investors about Equity asset class and risks. Drawdowns have gotten so rare, it really feels like a dream.

If you invest for a 15 year duration, then you will never loose money. MFs are a game of patience.

My dad was not aware of MFs in 2008, he did a lump sum investment in reliance mutual fund(now Nippon) for a mere Rs 4000 It is now worth ~1.2 lakh That's 26x in 15 years

Shouldn't be losing money if your outlook is to stay invested for the long term.

I'm personally sitting at a XIRR of 28% since before COVID. invested heavily during COVID collapse.

All those started their investing journeys before covid must have witnessed 20-30% drawdowns. The downside protection in MFs is not very high against index.

Investing for past 2-3 years, have around 28% returns

I think this is exactly the kind of cases I want to avoid because it paints a false narrative of high profits in my mind.
Would want to be cautious at this time.
