Salary and relocation advice

I'm a software professional making 50LPA in India.

Getting offers from Germany, Spain for 100000 euros per year.

What should I choose? Relocating to Europe or stay back in India? How are savings in European countries compared to India?

I know quality of life will be better in Europe. But is it true that you feel alone there (being away from family)?

Anybody with similar experience?

I guess more information would help. Could you answer these questions-

  1. How old are you currently?
  2. Will you be relocating with family? Are you married?
  3. Do you think this pay is what is standard for your YOE?
  4. Are you at a stage where more money doesn't matter to you but you want better life, peace in life, balanced lifestyle? Or is it exact opposite

1 and 2. I'm 28, married and no kid yet staying in Hyderabad as of now, so will be relocating with my wife. 3.. Not very sure about the pay range in Europe but what I've seen is, this is what European nations pay. Let me know if you have better idea. 4. It's opposite, I need more money now.

I'd suggest finding a Job in US or remote job from India itself. People go to Europe to have a balanced lifestyle, no one goes there to earn money bcoz European counterparts of MNCs don't pay that much

I came back from Germany after working there for 2 years for a unicorn.

100000 is above average pay but you won’t be able to save much. Especially if you want to travel. If you don’t want to travel, there really is no point in going to Europe.

And to be honest, the tech there is mediocre at best. So no great learning experience as well.

Exactly, I'm interested in travelling. That's one of the reasons I am little inclined towards moving.

Can you share in a little more detail on the rent, daily expenses etc. And the savings when someone makes 100k in Germany?

Yeah you can travel easily. But after a point it all starts to look the same. A main station, a cathedral, old town, bars etc etc

That depends on your lifestyle. I hope you know 100k gross is around 60k net in Germany. Rent depends on city, ~1k-2k. Living expenses for 2 would be around ~1k-1.5k(depends on your lifestyle).

Just remember 1 thing. If you don't do it now, it will get even more difficult later. So go, if you feel lonely fckin come back. No one stops. Not like you are taking a loan. And that package is good, certainly somewhat better than you earning 50lpa in say Bangalore

That's something I was hoping to get. Thanks man for sharing your thoughts.

Although as per price parity calculator 100k is less as compared to 50lpa - I've gone through expenses in European countries which seems to be very much more that India as well as the taxes - seems like it'll be less but not too less.

Will update my next move soon

Could recession be a problem? India is safer in that term - just a thought that came to mind.

Can you share some reasons for not moving to Europe?

Low salaries, u'll have to learn local language, high taxes. India pays well and close to family
