How to ask for the right package and when you don't know how much you should get ?

The best way is to research about the company. I generally use Glassbox and Leetcode Compensation section. Else a safe way to go is to frame it this way that “It would be really helpful if you can tell me as to what compensation you are giving to other candidates at this role.” Generally they give a range, else your best bet is to follow up with “I think I am comfortable with pay at market level”.
