Salary progression: Designers
Theres a salary progression thread for everyone, but I suspect most of them are developers.
Let's hear from the designers.
Whats been your salary progression so far as a designer?
Started at 10L(2019) to 15L in 3 year stuck at a toxic work culture - overworked and underpaid. Took a break and chilled for half a year - now at 30L with good work culture.
Loved that you took a break. You're in Microsoft now, seems like a good place to work.
Started at 14LPA and progressed to 28LPA+ stocks in 2 years.
I started my journey as a game designer in 2006. My initial salary was 1.8 LPA. Then, within six months, it increased to 2.2 LPA. After two years, I switched companies and earned 2.6 LPA. I switched again within six months and increased my salary to 4.5 LPA. I worked until September 2009 before quitting my job. I took a three-year break to prepare for the UPSC exam but unfortunately failed. I returned in 2012, and this time my salary was 5.5 LPA. I switched jobs again and was promoted to 6.5 LPA in 2015. I worked there for 3.5 years, and my salary rose to 10.4 LPA. I switched again and was promoted to a product manager role with a salary of 12 LPA. Finally, I quit in 2019, just before COVID began. I rejoined in 2022 but only stayed for two months.
I have good experience with the Indian gaming industry and its work culture. Compared to me, you are doing very well. Just stick to your profession and aim to start your own startup. Network with reputed clients while working. Be consistent and play for the long term. You can do very well. All the best! 👍
Started at 3.6lpa, now at 11lpa (2 yoe) with one switch and 2 appraisals
