Salesforce is aggressively hiring in India

Recently I have heard of Salesforce India hiring aggressively across engineering roles. Now some say that they are even skipping OAs for some candidates. What business demand is driving this hiring whereas others are doing layoffs. The one unit that's hiring is Industrial Applications.
I am thinking of applying there but scared that this might be hire and fire situation. (I am being optimistic that I will be able to clear the interviews)
Genuinely curious. How does hiring and firing help a company? Spending so many resources and time to hire a candidate only to fire them, how does it benefit the company?
