Sebi Chief Madhabi Puri Buch Responds to Hindenburg Allegations

  • Sebi chief Madhabi Puri Buch and her husband Dhaval have issued a detailed statement addressing allegations made by Hindenburg Research.
  • The Buchs clarified that their investment in a fund promoted by IIFL Wealth Management was made as private citizens in Singapore, two years before Madhabi joined Sebi.
  • They emphasized that all their financial disclosures have been transparent and in compliance with Sebi's regulations.
  • The Buchs refuted any insinuations about their net worth and investments, calling them malicious and motivated.
  • Hindenburg has been served a show cause notice by Sebi, and the Buchs criticized the firm for attacking Sebi's credibility instead of responding to the notice.

The question is not whether she disclosed or not. The question is whether she had any indirect stake in Adani, and if so, did she recuse herself from the ongoing investigation against Adani. If not, its clear conflict of interest.

If I work for one of the Big4 consulting companies and I have been investing in a Fund: Mutual Fund or Anything for a while that invests in any of the Consulting firm’s clients, you cannot say I have an indirect interest in that Client’s stock and thereby a conflict of interest. It is a fund with multiple securities and assets most likely. Therefore, it must be looked at like that.

You can def say conflict of interest if given your proportion of investment is significant enough and you are massively connected with mutual fund managers and clients they are investing in.

All is ok .. but this point 2 coming over and over again makes no sense to me. In my mind it doesn’t matter if investment was made when they had no connections or privately etc etc. infact protecting adani to save those investments looks like a perfect cause for nonaction. Nevertheless i believe in 3 things 1) hindenburg is not saint 2) Adani is no saint. 3) we cannot blindly trust anyone on top.

There are some bigger things at play Mr. and mrs. Buch are 26/11 attack survivors, SEBI tightening norms around FnO, Adani-Financial backbone, now the international cabal attacks on sebi&adani??

Lol, soon the cabal might say....supreme court judge is also corrupt, PM and President are compromised if they rule in favor of India.

BubblyBiscuit

Just the fact that I am hearing so much of this narrative of this being an international cabal attack and she is a 26/11 survivor - all the nationalist distraction from the allegations and clarifications makes me doubt the credibility of the clarifications

JazzyNoodle

You anti-nationalist??? What do you mean by credibility? Let's say they did something wrong...so then do you go on to support some random dude making allegations on India's apex org? Bloody international validation seekers.... Even if both are deadly corrupt, I'll still stand with SEBI.. because their corruption aganist the lobby atleast helps India(by India it means people of India) the definition of corruption itself is different for me. Everyone is working for their own gains, as someone mentioned in comments, foreign cabal is no saint...they are working for their own gains, when they faced little turbulence...they go on to make allegations??and you talking about credibility?..of whom? In war there is no right or wrong, it's just whose side you choose to stand with
