Should I take a pay cut?

I am working as an associate at one of the most high paying strategy consulting firms in India. I am getting close to 30 LPA and I have been working here since the last one year. I never enjoyed the work - it's boring, monotonous, and not at all intellectually stimulating.

The management has no regard for work life balance and I have been clocking almost 16-17 hours of work daily. I've begun applying to other firms, but face challenges in finding companies willing to match my current salary due to my limited work experience. (I graduated in 2023)

I have two questions:

  1. Which companies might match my salary package?
  2. Should I consider taking a pay cut to pursue roles at startups in growth, marketing, or product? (That's where my interest lies)

Any suggestions would be helpful 🥲

Can you please answer honestly what is it that you do at your current role.

Never take a pay cut.
Ask for same salary if you want to jump, instead of asking for a raise. More often they would give you the same salary which you're currently getting.
But please never take a pay cut. It will be equally hard to get back to the same salary level again.

so in your case the high salary they are paying you is keeping you trapped, and useful for them as you won’t find similar salary elsewhere .

congrats on getting 30LPA on year one though

Is this Post MBA salary or pre MBA salary. If pre then what is your current role? What exactly you do?
